NASDU AFFILIATE TRAINER FACT SHEET

Introduction:
This Award offers the opportunity for experienced and qualified Instructors/Trainers to gain NASDU accreditation as an acknowledgement of their existing experience and training skills.

For Whom Suitable:
The Award is designed for those experienced Instructors/Trainers who are working in establishments such as the Police, Prison Service or the Military.

The Award is also designed for those Instructors/Trainers who have left such establishments and have kept their teaching skills and knowledge current but do not require the full NASDU Approved Instructor/Trainer status.

Awarding Body:
The Award of Affiliate Trainer will be certificated by NASDU and acknowledged by SIA recognised Awarding Bodies.

Prior Learning:
Those applying for the position of Affiliate Trainer shall have proven formal qualifications within the Police/Prison Service/Military and be fully experienced in the delivery of general purpose security dog training and/or detection dog training.

Assessment:
Assessment to become an Affiliated Trainer will be by the submission of the applicants CV which shall be moderated/verified by the NASDU Training Committee/Inspectorate

Applicants should provide full details of all current and previous employment including discharge papers (if applicable) together with full details of all formal training and qualifications achieved during their previous employment.

Progression:
Affiliate Trainers can progress to become a NASDU Approved Instructor/Trainer (attention is drawn to the requirements of that Award and the requirements of a teaching qualification in “Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector” – PTLLS).

Activities:
Affiliate Trainers can be utilised by Approved NASDU Instructors/Trainers
    in the delivery of training, thus providing the necessary experience, knowledge
    and understanding of a specific discipline (i.e. Drugs/Explosive/GP Dogs).
Affiliate Trainers can also be utilised by Approved NASDU Instructors/Trainers
    in undertaking final (externally independent) assessments, so long as they have
    not been involved in any part of the delivery of the training.
Affiliate Trainers can also be utilised by the NASDU Inspectorate to undertake
    external/internal moderation and assessments and to provide support and guidance
    in their particular field of expertise.

Fees:
Initial Application Processing Fee £35.00
Individual Membership Fee (if not already a Member) £25.00
Annually thereafter (including Individual Membership) £35.00

Upon successful application Affiliate Trainers will receive:
NASDU Code of Practice for Instructors/Trainers
