NASDU - NATIONAL AWARD FOR THE GENERAL PURPOSE SECURITY DOG HANDLER ANNUAL ASSESSMENT

Introduction:
The NASDU National Award for the General Purpose Security Dog Handler aims to provide the skills, knowledge and understanding required to ensure continued provision of a professional level of service as an General Purpose Security Dog Handler

For Whom Suitable: 
General Purpose Security Dog Handlers who wish to meet the requirements of the NASDU Code of Practice which recommends Security Dog Handlers undertake Annual Assessment

Awarding Body: 
NASDU – National Association of Security Dog Users

Level:
Annual Assessment

Course Duration: 
As this Award is an Assessment of competence there is no specific number of GLH

Programme Structure:
The programme is a mixture of theory and practical assessment for which all assessment criteria must be met

Prior Learning:
All learners should have achieved the ASET Level 2 Award for General Purpose Security Dog Handling or hold a NASDU Basic General Purpose Dog Handler certificate, hold an appropriate S.I.A. Licence (unless exempt) and should be trained and competent in a general Security Officer role

The learner is also expected to have completed an appropriate number of continuation training hours since their last assessment and provide evidence of this

Assessment:
The assessment shall be carried out by an Approved NASDU Trainer/Instructor and internally moderated by NASDU and shall be valid for 12 months

Progression:
The successful learner can proceed onto NASDU Advanced Awards or ultimately onto Security Dog Training

The Award can also provide underpinning knowledge to assist learners to progress to NVQ’s and higher qualifications

Achieving this qualification does not automatically entitle an Individual to NASDU Membership; application forms for Membership can be obtained from your Trainer/Instructor or Head Office
