Introduction: The NASDU National Award for the General Purpose Security Dog aims to provide the skills, knowledge and understanding required to ensure continued provision of a professional level of service for a General Purpose Security Dog
For Whom Suitable:
General Purpose Security Dog Handlers who wish to meet the requirements of the NASDU Code of Practice which recommends Security Dog Handlers and Dogs undertake Annual Assessment

Course Duration:
As this Award is an Assessment of competence there is no specific number of GLH
Programme Structure:
The programme is a practical assessment of the team for which all assessment criteria must be met.
Prior Learning:
The General Purpose Security Dog should have achieved a level of operational competence through previous training programmes prior to assessment
The General Purpose Security Dog is also expected to have completed an appropriate number of continuation training hours since their last assessment and provide evidence of this.
Assessment:
The assessment shall be carried out by an Approved NASDU Trainer/Instructor and internally moderated by NASDU and shall be valid for 12 months

Achieving this qualification allows a General Purpose Dog to become registered with NASDU.
