REHOMING

From time to time NASDU Head Office receive calls from dog owners who for a variety of reasons need to re-home their dogs.

Many of these have been referred by the RSPCA to NASDU as the breed of dog may be suitable as a Security Dog.

The following contains the contact details of these dog owners for which we ask you to contact the owner direct.

NASDU offers nor implies any guarantee of suitablity and it is the responsibility of the enquirer to ascertain the reason for the dog being re-homed and its suitability.

The service is provided free of charge to members of NASDU and users of its website, all we ask is that if a dog is re-homed then you contact NASDU so we can amend the site.

Mallie is a one year old neutered female.  She has had three homes so far and is still a little under socialised with people and dogs (may bark and lunge).  Mallie is therefore looking for a very experienced home where she can continue with training and socialisation.  Mallie is very bright and affectionate girl who is starting to enjoy playing with toys.  She is kennelled and regularly walked with dogs and is fine with them, but she protected her owner from his dogs in the last home, so ideally not to be homed with dogs.  For more details contact the Blue Cross in Felixstowe (01394) 283254  www.bluecross.org.uk (posted02/02/2012)

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home are currently looking for outlets for the following dogs:

Duke; 3yr old male collie cross, excellent ball drive and very good search but needs bringing on a little

Glyn; 2-3 yr old male Rottweiler, large build, docked, very good prey drive very with a strong grip on a soft sleeve, defence is good but will need building on and has good potential and will do some search for toys.

Kirk; 2-3yr old male Rottweiler, lean build with a full tail, very good prey drive with a very strong grip on a soft sleeve and very good in defence and will do some search.

Ace; 4yr old male Rottweiler, medium build, docked, very good prey drive, very committed on a soft sleeve, wont search for toys but very good in defence.

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home aims never to turn away an animal in need and cares for around 7,000 dogs a year at three centres in London, Old Windsor in Berkshire and Brands Hatch in Kent.

Whilst each dog receives a behaviour assessment and many are suitable to be re-homed with people or families some are better suited to be working dogs and we occasionally have German Shepherds, Labradors, English Springer Spaniels, Border Collies and Rottweiler’s available to working homes.

All of Battersea’s animals are vaccinated and vet checked.

For more information on any of the above dogs, please call the Service Dog Manager on 01784 494454 or e-mail k.payne@battersea.org.uk

Saphire - German Shepherd bitch, two years old, unspayed

Very good house dog, very affectionate towards people in the home. Keen to learn and please.

Unfortunately protective while on the lead.  Sometimes will bark at people but will leave when told but is ok once greeted. Due to lack of social skills with other dogs can be aggressive towards other dogs. Which I feel could be corrected with training, this takes time and although I have only had Saphire for a short time, she has come a long way and I cannot put in the time. When she came to me four weeks ago she'd had no basic training, she walks to heel now and will sit and lay down to command. Gives paw and goes to bed when told. She could with effort become a good companion to some one who knows the breed but may be better suited to working dog, ie security/patrol.
